i started painting today. i should have started days ago, but um, i didn't. here's a peek.
i'm using a paint gun, but i had some trouble with it today, so i had to roll a lot of paint. my wrists are killing me. hopefully tomorrow i'll get the gun running again.
and now the fun part. i loathe mannequins. i loathe their gaunt, transsexual faces. i loathe the way a wig never fits them right. i super loathe their bad make-up. (i know there are some cool mannequins, but i don't have those.) i've been racking my brain for quite a awhile now, wondering how i could remedy my fugly mannequin dilemma. obviously i need the mannequins, but how to make them fit the aorta aesthetic... then last week, in the midst of an ugly hangover, the most obvious solution hit me. animal masks! duh!
most of the ones i bought arrived today (not from my regular mailman, by the way) and they're exactly as i imagined. and best of all, they made my crappy day end on a decent note.

horses, giraffes, and owls...oh my
the amazing aesthetic you are developing for your soon to be opened shop is inspiring me on a daily basis!! i cannot WAIT to see it all put together!! yeehaw!
First: that paint color... yum, yum, yum. I had an apartment once with a bedroom in that color & one wall of the "family room" as well & I found it peaceful & invigorating (good feelings to get in a store!).
On the animal masks: you're killing me. They're great. People masks kinda freak me out (as in people faces)- but animal masks... tres cool!
I'm linking you to my blog, which means instant fame! Not really (my blog has yet to become the MUST read of the decade... two more years to fill that dream).
Good luck with your store. It's inspiring to read about. 'Specially since your my age (I'm 11/1/74)- & I often get this weird spinstery feeling, or that I passed the "big dream" part of my life... ok I'm about to start rambling: too much coffee.
It's a compliment... not many blogs inspire the rambler in me. =^.^=
Happy Friday.
katie, thanks!
i once painted a kitchen in that color. it was the crappiest room in the place, but that color made it my favorite room to be in.
i feel spinstery, too. sometimes i beat myself up for not doing this sooner, but i don't think i would have been ready sooner. and it makes me feel even more spinstery that my life is all work right now- but it's more than work, it's what i love doing. so i'm glad people like reading about it.
i know the animal masks are going to freak some people out, but it'll have them talking!
... All I do is work, too (Lirarian/Etsy/Writing) & EVERYONE (no joke) I work with is married- not that I even want to be, but they're younger & it makes me feel funny. Mostly like, why the hell are all of you married already? (No judgement on married people...)
Oh well.
There's a strange New Zealand movie, overall I didn't love it, called Eagle vs. Shark- I wish you could see (if you haven't already) the scene at the dress up as your favorite animal party. The costumes are fantastic. As a seamstress, I'm sure you would appreciate them.
Happy Saturday! =^.^=
Those masks are gorgeous!
